Lily Allen has somehow blown through the advance for her sophomore album -- weeks after it hit stores.

Although she's stormed the pop charts with her latest single and album, It's Not Me, It's You (review) (Capitol), Allen told the Daily Mail that she's flat broke -- so much that she had to sell her one-year-old BMW to help make ends meet. And why's she so hard up? Not poor budgeting, of course, but the world's handiest excuse: the credit crunch! Yes, Allen was hoping to live on credit until royalty checks for the new songs started rolling in. Bummer.

Maybe she's rethinking that plan to sell digital copies of her new album for a mere $4.
