THE KILLERS - FLOWERS PROMISES TO KEEP KIDS AWAY FROM BOOZE...

THE KILLERS frontman BRANDON FLOWERS has vowed to steer his children away from alcohol - insisting his life has more direction since he kicked his booze habit.

The singer struggled to balance his Mormon beliefs with life as a hedonistic rock star.

But he decided to quit drinking and become an active member of the church after the birth of his son Ammon Richard in 2006 - and he wants his children to adhere to the boundaries of his new-found faith.

He says, "Drinking definitely conflicted with what I was raised to believe and what I want to teach my children to believe. When I think about the pain that came with it, it's a no-brainer."

And Flowers is adamant he doesn't miss alcohol - because he has enjoyed a burst of creativity since turning his back on the bottle.

He adds, "Music has taken the place of drinking for me. I write songs in a hotel room at 2am rather than go to a party. Now I'm even more excited about getting to that keyboard in the hotel room."
