Where do I start to let you know about Theory of Decadence? I guess at the beginning. Theory of Decadence was formed from the remnants of a band here in Tulsa called Antidoto. The founding member of that band realized the need to spend his time with his daughters and moved to El Paso. The bass player, Garrett, took a sabbatical of sorts, to explore his heart and find his direction, which left the guitarist/vocalist, Rigo and the drummer, Randy wondering what to do next. Rigo and Randy decided to keep jamming and writing together. So, that's what they did. Both decided to take the writing in a direction away from Antidoto's style and embarked on a creative journey exploring the progressive side of metal and hard rock, not really knowing what would happen or exactly how to write and play it at times. In the meantime, Garrett found his heart and desires firmly entrenched in the sound and stylings that Rigo and Randy were putting together, so, he came home to make music with them. The only thing left was to find a lead guitarist that fit where the band was wanting to go musically. They had a friend of Randy's come in and see how things went. Wow!! They heard him play and thought it was a perfect fit. He seemed to add a lot musically and had great ideas for writing and also promoting the band. They all got together and produced their demo with limited outside help. Things seemed to be going great!! However, after a few shows and a taste of what the local music scene is like, he decided he would leave the band. So, the hunt was on again for a lead guitarist. This time they would know more of what they were looking for and expecting from a lead guitarist. After talking to and auditioning a number of guitarists, they found a guy in Jenks that they think will fit nicely. Their music is going in the direction they like, though it is in the infant stages of progressive music, the style and concepts are there. So, they begin another chapter in the life of Theory of Decadence. A list of influences should be included here. All of them have influence from Metallica. Others are Dream Theater, Disturbed, Rush, Mudvayne, Opeth, Pantera, and Damageplan, to name a few. They really like the music they make. It doesn't really fall into the metal and hardcore music that almost everybody is playing now, but, that's exactly what they want, to be set apart from the rest. Maybe not better than the rest, just set apart. So, check out the page, and their music, then before making a judgement, go see them live!! You just might be impressed.
